Connection: Relationships are the heart of effective teaching
Health and Physical Education are more than just subjects—they are foundations for a lifetime of well-being. I believe in fostering a classroom environment that empowers all students to become their healthiest, happiest selves—physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.
Rooted in the World Health Organization’s and Donatelle’s multidimensional views of health, my teaching philosophy embraces the six dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, and environmental. By addressing each of these areas, I aim to prepare students not only for academic success but for thriving, balanced lives.
Physical Education is a vital space for students to:
Develop lifelong fitness habits
Learn teamwork and sportsmanship
Build confidence through skill progression
I create high-participation, high-engagement lessons that meet students where they are and challenge them to grow. Through consistent encouragement, individualized goal-setting, and real-time assessment, I help students experience and celebrate their progress.
In today’s information-saturated world, health literacy is essential. My priority is to help students:
Access and evaluate reliable health information
Navigate influences such as media, culture, and technology
Make informed decisions that enhance well-being
I emphasize the social-cognitive model and the importance of environmental and peer influences, encouraging students to think critically and take ownership of their choices.
Every student deserves access to quality physical education. In my Adaptive PE classes, I serve as:
A facilitator of safe, inclusive physical activity
An advocate for students with diverse needs
An innovator who adapts lessons to ensure meaningful participation
Through collaboration with families, educators, and specialists, I ensure that each student receives the support and modifications they need to thrive physically, socially, and emotionally.
